Men's Tennis Blanks Second Consecutive Opponent to Begin Season

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team moved to 2-0 this year behind a 9-0 victory against Regis College on Friday afternoon in the Tarrant Recreation Center, its second clean sweep of the fall.

THE ACTION

  • Boucher and Scott opened doubles play with a 6-0 triumph in the first position before Mosher and Rosen clinched their team the doubles point courtesy of a 6-1 win at No. 3 during their first match together.
  • Krogh and Weiss also partnered for the first time and claimed a 6-4 victory in the second spot.
  • Mosher and Rosen opened singles play with dueling 6-1, 6-1 victories at No. 5 and 2, respectively, to provide the hosts a 3-0 lead.
  • Llona clinched the team win by turning in a 6-0, 6-2 win in the sixth position.
  • Weiss finished off a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 1, Krogh won 6-2, 6-0 in the third spot, and Tonini captured a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 4.

  • Oct. 13 vs. the University of Massachusetts at Boston, 1:30 p.m.
  • The teams will meet at Longfellow New Hampshire Tennis & Swim Club in Nashua, N.H.
  • UMass Boston qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division III Tournament as the automatic qualifier and postseason champion from the Little East Conference.
