Men's Tennis Opens Spring with 5-2 Loss at Regionally-Ranked Roberts Wesleyan

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team opened the spring segment of its 2019-20 season with a 5-2 loss at regionally-ranked Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College on Saturday in the Midtown Athletic Club. The Purple Knights had their four-match winning streak come to an end against a Redhawk team ranked 10th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region Poll.

  • During singles play, the hosts grabbed a 2-0 lead before Boucher finished off a 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 win in the second spot to bring Saint Michael's within a point.
  • Sophomore Michael Rosen (Andover, Mass./Andover/Saint Anselm) fell during a lengthy 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 contest in the fourth position to allow Roberts Wesleyan to forge ahead 3-1, but Weiss clinched a long match of his own, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2, during a comeback at No. 1 to trim the deficit to 3-2 with two matches remaining.
  • The hosts secured the win with a victory at No. 5 before Mosher lost a pair of close sets in the sixth spot, suffering a 6-4, 7-5 defeat to cap the contest.
