COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team opened Northeast-10 Conference play with a 6-1 loss to regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday in the Tarrant Recreation Center. The Ravens were eighth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll.

- Franklin Pierce swept doubles to take the opening point, with senior Matt Mosher (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) and first-year Josh Weiss (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) losing a 6-3 decision at the No. 2 spot to the region's eighth-ranked doubles tandem to allow the Ravens to clinch.
- In the top position, Scott and first-year Jason Boucher (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) took their foes to a tiebreaker but lost a 7-6 (7-2) contest to a duo that improved to 6-2 this season.
- Franklin Pierce took matches from No. 4 and 5 singles in straight set to forge ahead by a 3-0 score before Scott rallied from a set down for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 1 singles in his NE10 debut.
- The visitors clinched the match when Boucher lost a pair of close sets, 6-3, 6-4, from the third spot.
