Box Score SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team lost an exhibition affair to NCAA Division III power the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, 8-0, on Friday evening in Cairns Arena, opening a home-and-home weekend set. The Cardinals won five of the last six NCAA Tournaments.

THE ACTION
- Hoops had a one-timer from below the left circle denied by Davis at 12:59 of the opening period before the teams exchanged hitting posts soon thereafter, with senior Sierra Benjamin ringing the pipe on a breakaway at the 15-minute mark before first-year Angelina Ruiz (Independence, Minn./Gentry Academy) drilled the post 40 seconds later.
- McArdle's quick shot from below the right circle was denied by a Mudrak pad save at 17:35 before the netminder stopped Krauseneck up close with a little more than a minute to go, but Katonka broke the deadlock by putting home a rebound at the left post with 18:59 gone.
- The Purple Knights worked a 2-on-1 break early in the second period, but Kennard's shot went into Davis' body at 29 seconds.
- Katonka doubled the lead at 8:00, one-timing home McArdle's pass during a power play from above the right circle. Whitney cashed in junior Ivy Boric's one-time, cross-crease pass at 13:57.
- Mudrak denied Krauseneck's breakaway bid with her blocker at 16:26 before Katonka completed her hat trick at 17:29, putting home a rebound. She scored again on a power play 4:35 into the third period.
- Stumm, first-year Bridget Orr and Katonka added goals during a 6:35 span down the stretch, with Stumm and Katonka tallying on power plays.
