THE ACTION
- Leys put the Purple Knights in front to stay with 4:42 gone in the first period, taking a pass in neutral ice from Harrison before moving into the right circle and beating Barrett to her blocker side. Sophomore Darby Rich (Melrose, Mass./Tilton School) also assisted.
- Kennard doubled the lead at 14:02, banking a backhanded shot from the goal-line extended off of a prone Barrett's toe and in. Langbacka and first-year Lucy Drougas (Superior, Wis./Madison Capitols) earned the assists.
- Hoops potted her first power-play strike at 3:35 of the second period, taking Langbacka's pass into the left circle and beating Barrett glove side. Sophomore Jace Zapata (Brea, Calif./Gentry Academy) registered the secondary helper.
- Just 43 seconds later, Ruiz put home a loose puck out front after Kennard's bad-angle attempt eluded the netminder. Senior Courtney Kelly (Arlington, Mass./Boston Jr. Shamrocks) added an assist.
- Hoops padded the lead at 16:40 by roofing home a rebound after her initial backhanded wrap-around attempt was stopped. Langbacka and Harrison had assists on the 5-on-3 power-play goal.
- Merrill ended the shutout bid 1:11 later, forcing a giveaway at her own blue line before racing the length of the ice and burying a shorthanded goal up close.
- In the third frame, junior Callie Wiley (Andover, Mass./Andover) slipped a pass down the boards for Canterbury, who played give-and-go with junior Ella Saracco (Melrose, Mass./Middlesex Islanders) before backhanding a shot from the slot over Barrett's left shoulder at 10:27.
- With 16:48 gone, Holmes took a giveaway in the left circle and picked the upper right corner of the net.
