COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team downed nationally-regarded Franklin Pierce University, 10-4, on Tuesday at Duffy Field during Northeast-10 Conference play. The Ravens received votes toward this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll.

GAME FACTS

• The Purple Knights allowed a season low in goals and shots (36), yielding their fewest goals at home since March 26, 2014. Saint Michael's also collected a season-high 41 ground balls.
• The Purple and Gold totaled 11 caused turnovers on 21 Franklin Pierce turnovers while holding sizeable leads in shots (49-36), ground balls (41-25) and clear success (26-for-29 to 19-for-27).
• The teams have now split their past four meetings, with Saint Michael's earning its largest series win since a 14-8 victory on April 11, 2012.

THE ACTION

• Katavolos and Watson scored a minute apart to give Saint Michael's a 2-0 lead by 13:05 of the first quarter. Simonson sandwiched a pair of markers around another Katavolos goal, and the hosts were up 5-0 at 9:00 of the second period. Sinibaldi assisted both Simonson strikes.
• Dorr scored at 7:20 to get the Ravens on the board, but Morgan converted Watson's feed with 5:44 left, and Katavolos pushed the lead to 7-1 with 59 ticks remaining.
• The one-goal opening half was the Purple Knights' best defensive half since allowing one tally during the first 30 minutes at American International College last March 20.
• Rooney scored again 1:01 into the second half, but Hughes potted a man-up tally at 7:09 thanks to Morgan's pass, and Simonson made it 9-2 with nine seconds to go. Sophomore Nathan Woods (Ottawa, Ontario/Kent School) assisted.
• Franklin Pierce scored twice in the fourth quarter, around Reyes' snipe at 5:58.
