• The Purple Knights put a pair of runners in scoring position in a scoreless second before Garcia led off the third with an opposite-field double but was stranded.
• Maurice broke a scoreless deadlock with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
• Saint Anselm extended its 1-0 lead with four runs in the sixth, keyed by Pezzolla swatting a three-run homer and Maurice following with another dinger.
• Five Hawks doubled during a four-run seventh.

THE ACTION

• Saint Anselm scored a pair of unearned runs in the first inning, keyed by Clough's RBI double.
• Saint Michael's threatened in the home half, as junior Ulysses Luciano (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy) walked with two down before Balian's single sent him to third. The final batter flew out.
• The Hawks scored in each of the first six innings, with Pezzolla singling in a run in the second, Collins and Clough picking up RBI in a two-run third, and Borrelli going deep in the fourth for a 6-0 lead.
• Six more runs came home in the fifth, when Pierro knocked a three-run home run.
• The Purple Knights got two runs back in the home half, as Lanthier singled home sophomore Nate Rogers (Portland, Maine/Cheverus), who had walked, before tallying on a wild pitch.
• Clough and Pezzolla added RBI in a two-run sixth.
• Lanthier reached on an error before scoring an unearned run in the seventh.
