THE ACTION
- The Hawks left a pair of runners in scoring position during the opening inning.
- In the home half, sophomore Andrew Lanthier (Orwell, Vt./Fair Haven Union) and junior Ulysses Luciano (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy) walked one out apart before Cianciolo picked up an RBI single, scoring the former, before the latter scored on an error.
- Junior Brady Doran's two-out RBI single halved the deficit in the fourth inning.
- Saint Michael's still led 2-1 with two out and none on in the seventh inning, with Rodríguez looking to finish off a seven-inning complete game, but senior Matt Collins singled and sophomore Zack Clough was hit by a pitch, and both scored on Pezzolla's double. Maurice followed with an RBI single to make it 4-2.
- First-year pinch-hitter Filly Santos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Park West) walked with one down in the home half before sophomore Danny Rickert (Williston, Vt./Essex) replaced him on the base paths. All in the same sequence, Rickert took off for second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on an infield error, and came home on an outfield miscue. THE ACTION
- The Purple Knights scored four runs on three hits and three errors during the first inning, as Balian and Santosuosso both had RBI singles.
- Doran's ground-rule RBI double got the Hawks on the board in the second before he and Dunklee had back-to-back two-run knocks as part of a five-run third, giving Saint Anselm a 6-4 edge. Nine of the game's 10 runs to that point were unearned.
- With two out in the home half, Santosuosso smacked a tying two-run double before coming home on sophomore Matt Sevigny's (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill) go-ahead RBI single.
- Perron's sac fly pushed the Saint Michael's lead to 8-6 in the fourth.
- Saint Anselm scored the final 13 runs. Collins had a two-run single and Clough a two-run double in a four-run fifth that put the visitors in front for good, and Doran hit a ninth-inning grand slam.
