Jenna Devens Named NE10 Player of the Week

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College softball junior Jenna Devens (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) was named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, April 28.

Devens batted .500 with a .786 slugging percentage and a .682 on-base percentage while walking eight times during a six-game week, when she also posted a 1.31 earned run average with a 1-1 record and 10 strikeouts in 16 innings in the circle. Devens reached base in five games, getting walked six times in a Tuesday twinbill at Saint Anselm College before ending the season with three consecutive two-hit games, which included two walks against Southern Connecticut State University in Saturday's nightcap. She yielded one earned run with five strikeouts in a 5-3 win over University of New Haven on Friday but was the hard-luck loser in a 2-0 setback to the Owls on Saturday.

During the week, Devens set program records for career home runs (21) and RBI (80) and season walks (28). She leads the NE10 in batting average (.416), OBP (.560) and walks while taking fourth in slugging (.614), tying for 10th in home runs (4), and tying for 12th in RBI (22). Devens' OBP was good for third in program history, short only of figures Carol Sarno '80 (.610) and Kathy O'Neil '81 (.600) posted during the 1978 season. Heading into her senior year, Devens is also second in program history in career doubles (29) and walks (56), and fourth in hits (137).

Saint Michael's finished 12-24 overall and 8-14 in NE10 play, tying for eighth place but losing a three-way tiebreaker for the final NE10 Championship berth.
