Laizer Honored for Third Consecutive Week, Lands NE10 Defensive Player of the Week

COLCHESTER, Vt. - First-year Chloe Laizer (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) was named Northeast 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 9. She landed a league accolade for the third straight week after earning consecutive goalkeeping laurels.

Laizer was recognized for making five saves and backstopping the Purple Knights to a 2-0 victory at Assumption University on Wednesday in their regular-season finale. She went untested on Sunday in the Purple and Gold's 1-0 win over Bentley University during the first round of the NE10 Championship, as the Saint Michael's defense yielded only a single shot, which was off frame.

Laizer leads the NE10 in wins (16), goals-against average (0.67) and shutouts (9), having set school records for victories and clean sheets. She is already fifth in program history in career wins and tied for fifth in shutouts.

At 16-2-1, the third-seeded Purple Knights head to No. 2 Franklin Pierce University on Thursday for an NE10 Championship semifinal at 7 p.m. Saint Michael's received votes toward last week's United Soccer Coaches national poll and was third in the initial NCAA East Region rankings, while the Ravens sat fifth.
