COLCHESTER, Vt. - First-year
Chloe Laizer (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) earned her second consecutive Northeast 10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honor for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Â
Laizer made four saves to backstop the Purple Knights to a 2-1 win over Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, snapping the Ravens' 11-game unbeaten streak and 14-game home undefeated run. Franklin Pierce, which received votes toward last week's United Soccer Coaches national poll, entered the day leading the NE10 in scoring (2.8) and had not been limited to a single goal at home by an NE10 team since Oct. 12, 2024.
Â
Laizer leads the NE10 in wins (14), goals-against average (0.75) and shutouts (7), having set a school record for victories while tying the rookie mark for shutouts. She is one shutout short of the overall record. Laizer is already seventh in program history in career wins and shutouts.
Â
With one regular-season game remaining, the Purple and Gold has already clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming NE10 Championship and will host a postseason contest for the first time since 1989 on Sunday. Saint Michael's was among eight teams under consideration for the initial NCAA East Region rankings last week and stood fifth in the United Soccer Coaches East Region poll. At 14-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 in NE10 play, the Purple Knights visit Assumption University, which was 10th in the regional coaches' poll last week, on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
