COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College softball senior
Jenna Devens (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) was named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year on Wednesday, as chosen by the league's coaches.
Â
Devens also landed on the NE10 All-Conference first team, posting her fourth career all-league accolade, and senior
Kaylee Morey (Stonington, Maine/Deer Isle-Stonington) earned a spot on the all-conference third team. Junior
Brooke Edgerly (Morley, Mich./Morley Stanwood) was named to the NE10 All-Defensive Team, while first-year
Maddy Booska (Burlington, Vt./Colchester) was selected for the NE10 All-Rookie Team.
Â
The 2022 NE10 Rookie of the Year, Devens is the first Purple Knight to land NE10 Player of the Year, joining two-time NE10 Pitcher of the Year and 2004 NE10 Rookie of the Year
Meggan Roberge '07 as her program's major postseason conference award winners. Devens becomes the program's first four-time all-conference pick, and also the first to earn three career first team nods, placing on the first team at three different positions: designated player in 2022, second base in 2024 and first base in 2025. She was the third team first base pick in 2023.
Â
Devens leads the league in batting average (.439), slugging percentage (.776), on-base percentage (.512) and home runs (8) while driving in a school-record 33 runs, only four off the pace, and scoring 25 more. A two-time captain and two-time all-region player, Devens had hits in 30 of 38 games and added 10 doubles and 18 walks to only six strikeouts. She stands second in the NCAA Division II East Region in slugging, third in OBP and fourth in batting average, good for 32nd, 41st and 31st, respectively, among all Division II players.
Â
Devens' batting average this spring was the highest by a Purple Knight since
Kathy O'Neil '81 hit .481 in 1981. She will graduate holding career marks for hits (184), doubles (39), home runs (29), RBI (113) and walks (74), and she previously set season records for home runs (12) as a first-year and walks (28) as a junior. Devens' career batting average (.415), slugging percentage (.709) and OBP (.499) are all second in program history only to O'Neil, who played prior to the program's resurrection in 1990.
Â
A 2024 NE10 All-Defensive Team selection, Morey earned her first all-league laurel as the Purple Knights' regular starter at third base. Despite missing a third of the season, she hit .260 with six RBI and eight walks to eight strikeouts in 24 games. The captain added a team-high four sacrifice bunts. After setting a school record with 105 assists last spring, Morey fielded at a .987 clip this year, committing one error in 76 chances. She will graduate eighth in program history with 226 career assists, finishing with a .946 fielding percentage.
Â
One of 13 NE10 All-Defensive Team picks, Edgerly patrolled center field to the tune of a .987 fielding percentage, committing just one error while picking up three assists. As the Purple Knights' leadoff hitter, she batted .315 while scoring 27 runs, stealing nine bases in as many attempts, and ripping five triples. Edgerly led the NE10 in three baggers, tied for eighth in stolen bases, and tied for ninth in runs.
Â
Booska was among 13 selections to the NE10 All-Rookie Team, appearing as her team's regular starter at second base as a first-year. She batted .253 with 22 runs, 14 RBI, a team-high 19 walks, and five stolen bases while committing only five errors, for a .965 fielding percentage.
