Saint Michael's Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Alex Smith Announces Class of 2029

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse head coach Alex Smith introduced 18 members of the program's Class of 2029 on Tuesday.

"The Saint Mike's men's lacrosse Class of 2029 is one that we've had circled for quite a while as a group that will make a tremendous impact on our program," said Smith. "We think quite a few of these guys will compete for early playing time and help shape the direction of SMC lacrosse for years to come. It's great to have players coming from all over the country as well."

Wyndam Abbott
Hometown: Canton, Mass.
High School: Xaverian Brothers High School
Club Team: Laxachusetts
Position: Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Wyndam is a shifty and quick midfielder who comes from a great high school program at Xaverian. His skillset is tailor-made for our offense, and we see him being a dodging and passing threat in lots of situations."

Shane Abrahall
Hometown: Holtsville, N.Y.
High School: Saint John the Baptist Diocesan High School
Club Team: Long Island Express
Positions: Attack/Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Shane has great hands and lacrosse IQ. He's the son of a lacrosse official and coach, so he's dialed in to the details of the game. We're excited about his skill and how he'll transition to the next level."

Mason Buckley
Hometown: Canton, Conn.
High School: Canton High School
Club Team: 2Way Lacrosse
Position: Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Mason is the prototypical NE10 midfielder. He has size, power, and dodging acumen. We love his ability to create for himself as well as hammer shots from range. He will be a versatile piece for our offense."

John Cary
Hometown: North Easton, Mass.
High School: Xaverian Brothers High School
Club Team: Laxachusetts
Positions: Defense/Long-Stick Midfielder
Coach Smith: "We were attracted to John because he's one of those defenders that does everything right. He is tenacious, mean, and really skilled. He will fit in very well to our aggressive defensive style."

Logan Conley
Hometown: Avon, Ohio
High School: Avon High School
Club Team: Burning River Lacrosse
Position: Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Logan is our first Ohio player in my time here at Saint Mike's. He is an amazing athlete and scored a ton of goals in high school. He can do a lot of things well on both ends of the field and will find a role as a do-it-all middie."

Chris Davis
Hometown: Kings Park, N.Y.
High School: Kings Park High School
Club Team: Long Island Express
Position: Attack
Coach Smith: "Chris is a great player coming off of an amazing senior season in high school where he helped his team to a runner-up finish on Long Island. He is big and talented and will be a major addition to our offense. Another son of a coach, we expect big things for Chris."

Cody Ehmann
Hometown: North Granby, Conn.
High School: Granby Memorial High School
Club Team: 3D New England South
Positions: Defense/Long-Stick Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Cody impressed us at our Prospect Day very early in his recruiting process. We kept watching him event after event, and he kept improving. If that keeps up, he's going to be a special player here at Saint Michael's."

Carter Fries
Hometown: Victor, N.Y.
High School: Victor High School
Club Team: Harvest Lacrosse
Position: Goalie
Coach Smith: "Carter played for one of the best high school programs in Upstate New York at Victor. We love his toughness and ability to make plays in and out of the net, and think he has all the tools to be an elite NE10 goalie."

Jack Higgins
Hometown: Glenmont, N.Y.
High School: Wilbraham & Monson Academy (Mass.)
Club Team: Albany Power
Position: Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Jack is one of those players who has a great motor. He is a force in the middle of the field and has a very multi-faceted game. We see him competing on faceoff wings and on both sides of the midfield for us."

Ian Hourihan
Hometown: Lancaster, Mass.
High School: Nashoba Regional High School
Club Team: Top Gun Fighting Clams
Position: Long-Stick Midfielder
Coach Smith: "When it comes to size, speed, and strength, Ian looks the part of an NE10 long-pole. He'll be in the mix for us as an LSM, and we're excited to see his development at the next level."

Chase Karmilowicz
Hometown: Ellicott City, Md.
High School: Mount Hebron High School
Club Team: Zingos Lacrosse
Position: Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Chase is physically tough as nails and has an attitude to match. He's going to fit in well on the defensive end as a d-middie. Being a multiple-sport athlete throughout high school means that his best lacrosse is still in front of him, and we think he's going to be a great addition."

Drew McCarthy
Hometown: Franklin, Mass.
High School: Franklin High School
Club Team: Stallions Lacrosse Club
Position: Defense
Coach Smith: "Coming from a traditionally strong lacrosse program down in Franklin, Andrew will be rolling into Saint Mike's with a ton of experience. He can cover, clear, and plays well off the ground. Andrew has all the makings of a special NE10 defender.

Miles McGuire
Hometown: Brighton, N.Y.
High School: Brighton High School
Club Team: Grizzly Lacrosse
Positions: Attack/Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Miles might be the slickest player in the class and has a ton of offensive weapons. We love that he can be effective both above and behind the goal and think that he's going to look great in our offense as a dodger, distributor, and scorer."

Braeden Murphy
Hometown: Miller Place, N.Y.
High School: Miller Place High School
Club Team: Long Island Sting
Positions: Attack/Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Braeden had to do a little bit of everything for his high school team, including play attack, midfield and even faceoff from time to time. Here, he'll be tasked with being one of our offensive horses. He's another player that kept getting better and better every time we saw him, and we are anticipating big contributions from him in his career at SMC."

James O'Connell
Hometown: North Bellmore, N.Y.
High School: Saint Anthony's High School
Club Team: Long Island Express
Position: Midfielder
Coach Smith: "James comes from one of the best lacrosse programs in the entire and has a ton of experience playing high-level lacrosse. He is a true two-way midfielder with the ability to affect the game both on offense and defense. We're excited about folding him into the midfield."

Zeke Peraza
Hometown: Los Angeles, Calif.
High School: Saint Francis High School
Club Team: Mint Lacrosse Club
Position: Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Zeke has the potential to be an impact player for us from day one. He is a tremendous athlete and can do everything on the offensive end. We're really excited for what he's going to bring us in a lot of different areas as well as to watch him in South Korea for the World Games this summer."

Frankie Ryan
Hometown: Attleboro, Mass.
High School: Mount Saint Charles Academy (R.I.)
Club Team: Stallions Lacrosse Club
Positions: Attack/Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Frankie might end up being the steal of the class. He was very under-recruited, but we saw him at a showcase and were immediately drawn to his skill and toughness. As a high school hockey player, he can mix it up with the best of them, and we think he's going to be a great player at this level."

Andrew Sabotka
Hometown: Rutland, Vt.
High School: Rutland High School
Club Team: Adirondack MountainMen
Positions: Defense/Long-Stick Midfielder
Coach Smith: "Andrew brings a bit of toughness and athleticism to our back line. He has been one of the steadiest defenders in the State of Vermont playing for his father at Rutland for the past three years, and we think he'll do great for us as we transition him to the college level."
