COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse May graduate Sebastian Simonson (Spruce Grove, Alberta/Spruce Grove Composite) was named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-America this week, adding to an impressive list of postseason accolades.
 
As a program, the Purple Knights were also among 31 NCAA Division II squads to land a USILA Team Academic Award thanks to posting a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average for the 2024-25 school year. They were one of four Northeast 10 Conference teams to land the accolade.
 
Simonson was among 56 Division II student-athletes recognized with a USILA Scholar All-America laurel, and one of seven from the NE10. He joined Will Moriarty '20, in 2020, as the lone Purple Knights to claim the accolade. Student-athletes with a minimum 3.0 GPA who were named All-America or a North/South Senior All-Star by the USILA or earned outstanding conference accolades were considered for the award.
 
Simonson won the prestigious NE10 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award last month in addition to earning USILA All-America second team and USA Lacrosse All-America honorable mention nods this spring. Simonson's postseason awards haul included New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Player of the Year and NE10 Offensive Player of the Year, as he notched 68 points, 36 goals and 32 helpers to set school records for points and assists. A two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-America pick - the 2025 selections have yet to be unveiled - Simonson graduated with a 3.86 GPA as a biochemistry major. While also setting school marks for career goals (134) and points (213) this spring, the captain is 15th in NE10 history in points and 17th in goals. He added NEILA All-Academic and NE10 Academic All-Conference honors this year.
