COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's soccer sophomore
Chloe Laizer (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) was named Northeast 10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Oct. 4. The reigning NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year, Laizer landed her second accolade this fall.
Laizer posted a 1.00 goals-against average, .857 save percentage and 6.0 saves per game during a 2-0 week. She was forced into six saves during a 5-0 win over Assumption University on Wednesday before collecting six more stops in a 3-2 win on Saturday over Pace University, which was receiving national votes. Laizer's three acrobatic first-half saves sent the teams into halftime scoreless.
Laizer is tied for first in the NE10 in shutouts (6) while sitting second in both GAA (0.35) and save percentage (.893), placing among the national leaders in all three upon the most recent rankings. Through 29 career games, all starts, she is already second in program history in career shutouts (15) and tied for third in wins (23) with SMC Athletic Hall of Famer
Trish Hannan '90. Laizer is three shy of Hannan's mark for clean sheets (18).
At 7-0-2 overall and 3-0 in league play, the Purple Knights were tied for 24th in last week's United Soccer Coaches national poll while sitting third in the East Region. They head to Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest.
