Ferm Koppelmans (Veghel, The Netherlands/Udens College) earned NE10 Rookie of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, March 29. Both were key to the Purple Knights' 4-3 victory over Bentley University on Saturday.
Brooker won twice against Bentley, both from the No. 1 positions. He partnered for a 6-4 doubles win before taking a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) singles decision in his debut playing No. 1 in NE10 play. Brooker is 9-5 in singles play, including 4-0 at No. 1 and 2, and owns an 8-6 doubles mark, all at No. 1.
Koppelmans earned the tiebreaking singles victory against Bentley, nabbing a 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 7-5 comeback win at No. 5 to snap a 3-all tie. In the deciding third set, he trailed 5-3 and 40-0 before completing the stunning rally. Koppelmans also sided for a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles. He is 7-7 in singles play as a rookie, including 5-2 from the fifth position, and stands 4-6 in doubles, going 3-5 in the third slot.
The Purple Knights are 9-4 this school year, within one win of a 45-year-old program record. They next play on April 11 at Southern New Hampshire University at 12 p.m.
