COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's tennis first-year Benji Deshayes (Walloon Brabant, Belgium/Home Schooled) was named Northeast 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 13. He was lauded following his initial week of college action.
 
Deshayes went 2-0 in doubles play while helping the Purple Knights to a 1-1 mark. In a 6-1 win over Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday, he sided with junior Richard Lin (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) for a 6-0 triumph at No. 2 doubles in his college debut. On Sunday in a 5-2 loss to Southern New Hampshire University, Deshayes and Lin again joined for a win at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, before the rookie lost only 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles against a Penman who had been an NE10 All-Conference first team selection at No. 3 just last school year.
 
Now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in league play, the Purple Knights visit Assumption University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
