ALBANY, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team
(6-25-1) set a season-high for runs scored - but also a season-high

Monday afternoon.
The second game of Monday's scheduled doubleheader was
cancelled.

the Purple Knights, as he doubled and singled twice, driving in
three runs and scoring twice. Freshman Tyler Hotte (South Berwick,
Maine/Marshwood) also had three hits in the loss, and also scored a
pair and drove in a pair. Three other Purple Knights had two hits
apiece: seniors Matt Beaulieu (Littleton, Mass./Lawrence Academy)
and Tony Bonvechio (Newport, Vt./North Country Union), and
sophomore Tim McDonnell (Durham, N.H./Oyster River).
For Saint Rose (13-28), junior Garret Keenan (Massapequa, N.Y.)
hit for the cycle in a five-hit performance, recording five
RBIs and four runs scored. Freshman Scott Hladik (Saratoga Springs,
N.Y.) added four hits, including a double, and three runs, while
two other Golden Knights tallied three hits apiece.
Saint Michael's exploded out of the gate, as the Purple Knights
scored eight runs in the top of the first inning, all off of Saint
Rose starter Kyle LaValley (Guilderland, N.Y.).
The Purple Knights still led 11-7 after 4 1/2 innings, before
Saint Rose took the lead for good with a six-run fifth inning,
chasing Saint Michael's starter Kevin Wickles (Hatfield,
Mass./Suffield Academy). Saint Michael's scored a run in the top of
the sixth inning to pull to within 13-12, but the Golden Knights
broke the game open with an eight-run sixth inning.
Freshman Rob McCarty (Canton, Mass./Canton) who came on in
relief of Wickles, took the loss, as he allowed seven runs (three
earned) in 1.2 innings. Junior Tom Wiener (Montrose, N.Y.), the
third Saint Rose pitcher, earned the win with two innings of
hitless relief.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Wednesday, as the Purple
Knights host the University of Massachusetts Lowell at 3:30 p.m. in
