NEWPORT, R.I. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team (2-11-1, 1-5-1 ECAC East) dropped a 6-2 decision at Salve Regina University in conference action on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Macey Thomas (Amherst, Mass./Northfield Mount Hermon School) scored her second goal of the season in the loss, while sophomore Melissa Hallisey (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) added her first goal of the season for the Purple Knights. Seniors Kelly Rose Losi (Milton, Mass./Milton) and Emily Paquin (Bowie, Md./Washington Pride), along with junior Madelena Santore (Millington, N.J./New Jersey Rockets), each earned an assist for Saint Michael's. Sophomore Erin Stevens (Watertown, Conn./Connecticut Polar Bears) turned aside 29 shots.
For Salve Regina (6-8-1, 5-3-0 ECAC East), Kendra Andrie tallied two goals and an assist, while Melanie Sherlock and Erin McCullough notched one goal and two assists. Rachel Porter recorded a goal and an assist, while Ali Muehlbronner stopped 27 shots.
The Seahawks raced out to a 3-0 lead just 13:16 into the contest, and held leads of 3-1 after one period and 5-1 through two periods of play. Salve Regina finished 2-of-9 on the power play, compared to just 0-of-5 for the Purple Knights.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Saturday, visiting the College of the Holy Cross at 3 p.m.
