HENNIKER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's women's ice hockey team (3-14-2, 2-8-2 ECAC East) coaxed a 1-1 tie at New England College on Saturday. The stalemate, paired with yesterday's win at Castleton, marks the Purple Knights' first back-to-back non-losses since tying Southern Maine and beating Plymouth State on Nov. 12-13.
For Saint Michael's, junior Madelena Santore (Millbrook, N.J./New Jersey Rockets/Rutgers Univ.) netted the lone Saint Michael's goal, while senior goalie Alysia Goldman (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Hebron Academy) made 49 saves for the Purple Knights.
After a scoreless first period, Santore cracked the scoreboard first with a lamp lighter midway through the second period on assists from junior Kelly McDonald (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) and junior Kiera Nelligan (Melrose, Mass./Arlington Catholic).
The Pilgrims tied things up five minutes into the third period when senior Rachel White (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) would convert on a power-play assisted by sophomore Stephanie Spera (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) and freshman Agnes Fontino (Durham, N.H./Boston Shamrocks).
The Purple Knights return to action when they host Southern Maine on Friday at 4 p.m.
