MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Michael's College women's hockey team (4-7-12, 3-11-2 Eastern College Athletic Conference East) lost it second straight contest with a 5-0 setback at Saint Anselm on Saturday. The Hawks outshot the Purple Knights 43-15 en rout to their 18th win of the season.
For Saint Anselm, freshman Courtney Winters (Swampscott, Mass./Saint Mary's) netted the opening and game-winning goal on a power play in the 13th minute of the opening period, and sophomore Rosemarie Giarrusso (Royal Palm Beach, Fla./North American Hockey Academy) scored twice to pace the Hawks.
For Saint Michael's, senior goalie Alysia Goldman (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Hebron Academy) stopped 38-of-43 shots on the day. Saint Anselm senior goalie Carley Berry (Danvers, Mass./Governor Dummer Academy) made 15 saves in net for her ninth career shutout.
The Purple Knights return to action on Friday when they host Manhattanville at 4 p.m.
