The Purple Knights took part in their Northeast-10 Conference opener while improving to 2-0 overall, while the Setters were beginning their season.

Junior Chris Moskal (Springfield, Mass./Cathedral) and sophomore Tom Brahm (Marlborough, Conn./Xavier) notched an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles for the hosts, who also won by default in the third position. At No. 1, junior Petr Soustal (Unicov, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Unicov/Quinnipiac) and sophomore Nick Bosco (Glastonbury, Conn./East Catholic) dropped a narrow 8-6 decision.
Three additional Purple Knights won during singles play to clinch the team victory, while Saint Michael's also won by default at No. 6. Senior Sam Cieplicki (South Burlington, Vt./New Hampton School) fought through a 7-5, 7-5 triumph in the second slot, junior Eric Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C./Pinecrest/Trinity [Conn.]) made his season debut with a 6-3, 6-3 win at three, and senior Brian Healey (Ware, Mass./Belchertown) captured a 6-2, 6-3 decision at four.
Saint Michael's hosts Stonehill College next Saturday at 10 a.m.
