COLCHESTER, Vt. - Nine players earned at least one win on Saturday to lift the Saint Michael's College women's tennis team past the University of New Haven, 9-0, in the Tarrant Recreation Center during Northeast-10 Conference play. The Purple Knights, ranked ninth in the most recent NCAA East Region poll, improved to 2-0 overall and in the league, while the Chargers were handed their first NE-10 loss in slipping to 3-2 and 3-1.

In the hosts' final home match until April, each of the Purple and Gold's doubles teams earned a victory, with first-years Erica Bundrick (Mattituck, N.Y./Mattituck) and Alexandra Sulkin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) winning by the largest margin, 8-2, in the third position. Seniors Emily Magee (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) and Jean-Marie McGrath (Niwot, Colo./Alexander Dawson School) forged an 8-5 victory at No. 1, and sophomores Caroline Martin (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) and Caroline Toutoungi (Weston, Conn./Weston) earned an 8-3 triumph in the second spot.

Singles play saw sophomore Kayla Dowd (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) blank her opponent at No. 6, Martin yield only one game in the fifth position, and senior Alex Dalton (South Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) win all but two at No. 2. McGrath picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the fourth spot, while sophomore Hannah Benoit (Mystic, Conn./Saint Bernard School) battled through a 7-5, 6-4 triumph at No. 3. In the first position, Magee rallied past first-year Eva Rybka (Berlin, Conn./Berlin), 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-5.

The Purple Knights complete the fall portion of their schedule next Sunday at Saint Anselm College at 1 p.m.
