SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's soccer team lost to American International College, 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon during Northeast-10 Conference play at Abdow Field. The Purple Knights are 1-9-1 overall and 0-8 in the league, while the Yellow Jackets won their fifth in six tries while moving to 6-4 and 5-2.

Senior Kaylee Sullivan (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) made seven saves for Saint Michael's. Senior Alyssa Werbicki scored twice for the hosts, first-year Federica Frew tallied once, and graduate student Rachel Edgin had one stop for a squad that went to two of the last four NCAA Tournaments.

Junior Alana Houlihan (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) had an early bid for the Purple Knights struck wide in the second minute, and AIC responded with a pair of goals 6:08 apart later in the stanza. Frew headed home senior Romina Bell's header pass at 14:55 and, after Sullivan came up with a 17th-minute stop to keep it 1-0, Werbicki finished junior Brianna Kenney's centering pass in the 22nd minute from up close. Sullivan made three additional saves in the closing 4:02 of the half to help the visitors remain within two goals at halftime.

Sullivan denied another Yellow Jacket during the opening minute of the second period before Werbicki slipped a shot into the upper left corner in the 61st minute. Senior Marianna Nowacki's (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) attempt to get the Purple Knights on the board in the 82nd minute was turned aside by Edgin, and a Saint Michael's own goal at 83:56 extended the AIC advantage.

The Purple Knights break until next Wednesday, when they host Assumption College at 3 p.m. The Greyhounds won the 2014 NE-10 regular-season crown before qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
