SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Saint Michael's College women's hockey team battled to a 1-1 tie against Sacred Heart University during Friday evening's New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) contest at Cairns Arena.

THE ACTION

• The opening period ended without any goals as Talcott stopped 18 shots to keep the Pioneers off the board, denying multiple odd-man rush chances.
• The Pioneers broke through at 11:10 into the second period as Bishop skated the puck around the Saint Michael's net and passed it to the blue line for Spiering, who ripped a slap shot into the left side of the net.
• The Purple Knights knotted the game at one apiece with 7:04 gone in the third period, as Monbouquette intercepted a Pioneer defender's pass at the blue line and went in alone on a breakaway, burying the puck between Erban's legs.
• In the overtime period, the Pioneers put four shots on net, including back-to-back shots on a 2-on-1 odd-woman rush that Talcott smothered with 1:20 remaining.
