Women's Soccer Falls in Double Overtime to Bentley, 2-1

WALTHAM, Mass. - Sophomore Dana Goulet scored her second goal with 2:22 left in the second overtime for Bentley University as the Saint Michael's College women's soccer team lost to the Falcons, 2-1, on Saturday in Northeast-10 Conference action at Bentley Field.

THE ACTION

  • In the second minute of play, junior Emma Guccione's cross from the right corner was knocked down in the box, and Goulet pounced on the loose ball and fired a close-range shot into the net.
  • Senior back Meghan Dieterle (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) fired a free kick on net in the 31st minute that Hassapis juggled but ultimately controlled.
  • During the 66th minute, Dieterle sent a corner kick service that Hassapis jumped through the box to punch out, but Rogers got a quick touch with a defender flanking her and lofted an arcing shot back through the area and beyond two backs covering the net to tie the game.
  • Vallatini made a pair of routine stops in the final 18 minutes of regulation before all four overtime shots came in the second extra session.
  • Junior Holly Spencer (Windham Maine/Windham) sent a one-hopper on Hassapis from 25 yards out in the 102nd minute before Vallatini had stops in the 103rd and 107th minutes.
  • After a foul in the midfield during the 108th minute, junior Keagan Castles sent a long free kick into the box that Goulet headed just inside the upper right corner for the game-winner.
