WINCHENDON, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team opened a two-game New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) weekend series against Franklin Pierce University with a 7-2 loss on Friday evening in The Winchendon School's Ritchie Ice Arena.

  • Sullivan made her 100th career appearance, becoming the 13th Purple Knight to reach the century mark.
  • Sullivan moved into a tie for eighth in program history with 25 career assists, joining Desiree Biron '10, Fernanda Saavedra '15 and Erin Dwyer '17. Sullivan's 25 helpers are the most in program history by a player who appeared solely as a defender.
  • Simons upped her career save total to 1,245, passing former teammate Nicole Talcott '19 (1,241) for eighth in program history. Simons' 790 saves this season match Talcott's 2017-18 figure for the third-best number in school annals.

THE ACTION

  • All of the first-period scoring came in the final 7:02 of the frame.
  • Parker put the Ravens up at 12:58 after poking home a shot from up close amid chaos in front of the net.
  • Just 29 seconds after a Purple Knight power play came to an end, Kennard leveled the score with 17:27 gone, converting a partial breakaway chance with a backhanded finish. Monbouquette lent the primary helper.
  • Franklin Pierce went back ahead just 1:59 later when Massaro potted a power-play goal, turning quickly near the right post after taking Prentiss' pass and tucking a shot inside the short side.
  • The hosts extended the lead with two goals in a 5:54 span of the second period. Parker finished a give-and-go with Kison out front at 3:02 before Jones tallied from the top of the crease with 8:56 gone.
  • Prentiss made it 5-1 by converting her team's second power-play goal at 15:22, picking the upper right corner from the top of the right circle.
  • Boscia cut into the deficit at 17:29, also sniping the top right corner from the right circle after a pass from Sullivan.
  • Diener got the goal back 3:01 into the third period, putting home a rebound, before Jones tallied again with 48 seconds remaining after cutting out front from the left circle and finishing.
