THE ACTION
- With one minute gone in the first period, Simons saved an early shot by Guidi, who found space in front of the net for a slap shot.
- The Purple Knights struck first 3:34 into the period when Monbouquette passed to Ferrari in the neutral zone, and Ferrari then shot the puck off a Pioneer defender into the back of the net.
- The Pioneers tied the game with 6:36 gone in the second period when first-year Alexa Ocel stole the puck in the Purple Knight zone and passed in front of the net for Lewis, whose shot went to the upper part of the net.
- Simons later made four saves during a Pioneer power play, including a glove save on a shot by Ocel from the right circle at 17:37.
- With 12 seconds remaining in the period, Ferrari had a breakaway toward the net and tried a backhanded shot, but Sanchez used her right leg to kick away the puck to keep the teams even.
- The Pioneers took the lead with 10:29 gone in the third period when Spiering brought the puck from her the defensive zone and shot from the blue line into the top right corner of the net, kicking off a run of three goals in a matter of 4:45.
- Sacred Heart scored a power-play goal 14:36 into the period on a shot by Solak that went bar-down.
- The Pioneers scored again 38 seconds later when senior Maddie Bishop shot from the point and Guidi tipped the puck in.
