COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team celebrated Senior Day on Sunday at Doc Jacobs Field while losing twice in Northeast-10 Conference play to Assumption University, 13-3 and 13-2. The second contest was a scheduled seven-inning affair.

Prior to the twinbill, the Purple Knights recognized seniors Shane Epps (Queens, N.Y./Saint Francis Prep/Mercy), Dan Favicchio (Massapequa, N.Y./Saint John the Baptist Diocesan), Julien Giroux-Harvey (Montreal, Québec/Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf), Iset Maldonado (Brooklyn, N.Y./Saint Francis Prep), Alex Mendez (Fallon, Nev./Churchill County) and Danté Moran (Saint Petersburg, Fla./Dixie Hollins).

• Senior Danté Moran (Saint Petersburg, Fla./Dixie Hollins) upped his career total to 97 hits while appearing in his 99th and 100th games. He became the 18th Purple Knight to reach the century mark in games while passing Kevin Harutunian '06 (96) for 15th in program annals in hits.

THE ACTION

• Assumption left seven runners on base in the first three innings, including as second baseman Maldonado backhanded a high-hopping, hard-hit ground ball to end the second frame with two on. The Greyhounds loaded the bases with one down in the third, but an infield fly and a strikeout by Mendez ended the threat.
• Moran's two-out RBI single plated Sevigny in the third to end the scoreless stalemate.
• Back in the field, Luciano started the fourth by leaping to snare a line drive from his spot at third base. That nice play limited damage, as the Greyhounds ended up scoring six runs on four hits and two errors, with graduate student Derek Adamson striking a two-run double and Libby a two-run homer.
• Moran doubled and stole third with two out in the fifth before being left there.
• Assumption scored seven more runs between the sixth and eighth frames, with Lonardo hitting a two-run homer and Schneider a solo shot.
• Maldonado was hit by a pitch with two out in the seventh before later scoring on Lanthier's single, and Luciano led off the eighth with a triple to right center before coming home on junior Sebastian Oetterer's (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) sac fly.

• Assumption scored six runs on six hits in the second inning, with Libby hitting a two-run home run and Wironen a two-run single.
• Saint Michael's got a run back in the third. Maldonado singled and stole second before first-years Nate Rogers (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) and Mason Dushney (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) walked and were hit by a pitch, respectively. Moran followed with a sac fly to bring home Maldonado.
• The Greyhounds scored three runs in each the fourth and fifth innings, as Libby had a two-run double and a three-run homer.
• Maldonado and Moran both picked up hits in the fifth, with Moran's knock again driving his classmate home.
