COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's soccer sophomore back
Julia Palmese (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) was named Northeast 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Â
Palmese anchored a defense that allowed no goals and only eight shots, with just four on goal, during a 2-0 week. The Purple Knights earned a pair of 1-0 wins, at Daemen University on Friday and at D'Youville University on Sunday. She was the only Saint Michael's field player to appear in all 180 minutes and helped the Purple Knights extend their shutout streak to 356:30.
Â
The Purple and Gold is 5-0 for the first time in program history and was ranked fifth in last week's United Soccer Coaches East Region poll. Saint Michael's is back in action on Wednesday when it faces the College of Staten Island at 1 p.m. for a neutral-site game in Albany, N.Y.
