NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College men's soccer
team (7-4-3, 4-3-3 Northeast-10 Conference) extended its unbeaten
streak to three matches on Wednesday evening with a 1-1 draw at
regionally-ranked Merrimack College.
Freshman Anthony Stanley (La Ceiba, Honduras/Santa
Teresa Bilingual School (Saint Johnsbury Acad.) netted his
first collegiate goal for the Purple Knights, off of an assist from
senior Ryan Gannon (Colchester, Conn./Bacon
Academy/CCSU). The goal came in the 73rd minute of play,
but less than five minutes later, Merrimack (9-4-1, 5-4-1 NE-10)
tallied the equalizer, scored by Elvert
Bodden.
Sophomore Logan Kingman (New Bern, N.C./New
Bern) turned aside 12 shots for the Purple Knights, who
were outshot by a 26-14 margin. Saint Michael's, however, held a
4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Sunday with an 11 a.m. game
at conference-rival University of New Haven. The contest is Saint
Michael's final regular-season road game of the season, before
ending the year with two home contests in its bid for the program's
first playoff berth since 2007.
