MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College men's soccer team
(5-4-2, 2-3-2 Northeast-10 Conference) played even with 12th-ranked
Southern New Hampshire University for 73 minutes on Wednesday
evening, before falling to the Penmen, 2-0.
SNHU (9-1-1, 5-1-1 NE-10) opened the scoring with 16:58 left in
regulation, as Chris Tsonis netted his third goal
of the season off of an assist from Christian
Rodriguez. Just over two minutes later, the Penmen doubled
their lead, with Rodriguez picking up his fourth goal of the year
off of a feed from Tsonis.
Joey Kapinos turned aside four shots for SNHU,
who has outscored its opponents 24-2 this season and are ranked
12th in this week's NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Division II National
Poll.
Sophomore Logan Kingman (New Bern, N.C./New
Bern) stopped four shots for the Purple Knights, who have
lost their last three matches, all on the road. Saint Michael's has
been held without a goal during its losing skid.
SNHU outshot Saint Michael's 21-8 in the contest, and held a
12-4 edge in corner kicks.
Saint Michael's is off until Tuesday, when Saint Michael's hosts
the University of Massachusetts Lowell at 3:30 p.m. on Duffy Field
at Doc Jacobs Complex.
