Box Score SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College women's soccer team carried a lead into the second half before falling at Le Moyne College, 3-1, on Saturday at Ted Grant Field. The Purple Knights are 3-10 overall and 2-8 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Dolphins improved to 6-6-1 and 4-5-1. Le Moyne is 5-1-1 at home.
Sophomore Megan LeCours (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) made six saves for the visitors, while classmate Emily Durette (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South) scored her first career goal. Senior Michaela Horne (Southboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) dished off an assist.
Senior Rachel Terry posted a goal and an assist for Le Moyne, while junior Stephanie Liberati and first-year Claire Stackel also scored. Sophomore Anastasija Cumika made one stop.
Le Moyne sent a pair of shots wide of the target during the opening 3:45, but it was Saint Michael's that broke the scoring column first, as Durette tallied at 12:25, shooting from the top of the box after taking a through pass from the left side from Horne. LeCours made six stops in the stanza to keep her team on top at halftime.
Le Moyne junior Emily Goldasic had a shot off a corner kick set play blocked in the 52nd minute, but the Dolphins knotted the contest at 66:16 when Terry found the right side of the goal from 22 yards away. Le Moyne went ahead on Liberati's marker 8:08 later, heading home a deflection of a free kick, and Stackel capped her team's three-goal outburst in a matter of 10:08 by hitting the upper right corner from 22 yards at 76:24. That proved to be the final shot for either squad.
The Purple Knights play three of their final four regular-season games at home, beginning by taking on Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
