Box Score 2 COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team was swept in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader by 12th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University, 8-0 and 24-4, on Sunday at Doc Jacobs Field. The Penmen's national ranking is according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), as the teams played seven innings in the opener and nine during the nightcap.

- The Penmen entered the weekend among the final five undefeated teams in NCAA Division II, and ranked 12th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) national poll. They qualified for the last eight NCAA Tournaments, advancing to the College World Series as recently as 2018.

THE ACTION
- Cianciolo led off the second inning with a single before stealing second, but Tobin otherwise struck out the side.
- Lanthier showed his range in center field with six putouts, including four over the initial eight outs alone, with his running catch of sophomore Kieran Dowd's deep drive in the third and a runner at second taking him over the fence and keeping Southern New Hampshire off the board.
- The Penmen broke the dual shutout with four runs in the fifth, as graduate student Marcus Chavez knocked a two-run double before LaRocca swatted a two-out, two-run home run.
- Dowd had an RBI single during a two-run sixth before redshirt first-year Ryan Baumann added a two-run, pinch-hit single in the seventh.
- In between, Lanthier singled with two out in the sixth and moved 90 on an outfield error but was stranded.

THE ACTION
- Southern New Hampshire scored four runs with two out in the first inning, capped by Mercedes' three-run double.
- The Penmen bunched 20 more runs between the third and sixth frames, with half of the runs unearned. LaRocca had three RBI, including two on a sixth-inning triple, and Reagan also drove in three runs, with two coming on a third-inning single.
- Saint Michael's scored four runs on four hits in the seventh. Foley led off by being hit by a pitch before moving to second on a wild pitch and scoring on Cianciolo's RBI single. Santosuosso's RBI single brought home junior Fernando Barriga (Springfield, Mass./The Springfield Renaissance School) before Maldonado drilled a two-run double, scoring Dushney and Santosuosso.
