Southern New Hampshire is not only third in the regional rankings but also stands 19th in the national poll. The Penmen qualified for the last three NCAA Tournaments.
- Southern New Hampshire has now allowed only one goal over its last 470 minutes since 2019, running its shutout streak to 327:22.
THE ACTION
- Escobedo was tested early, punching a 30-yard shot off the foot of sophomore Alyssa Anderson over the bar in the seventh minute.
- Saint Michael's had a pair of opportunities later in the opening stanza, as sophomore Claire Williams (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) drilled a shot from the edge of the box wide left in the 19th minute before first-year Christina Cummings (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) missed the right post in the 20th minute from distance.
- Graduate student Allyson Patterson's header off of a corner kick serve was stopped by Escobedo in the 29th minute, and the netminder kept it scoreless by leaping toward the upper left corner to bat away senior Julia Keller's left-footed drive from beyond the box in the 34th minute.
- That proved to be the last shot on goal for either team until Butters broke the deadlock in the 77th minute, with senior Sydney Carney's cross from the right side settling in the box and Butters turning and shooting into the upper right corner at 76:24.
- Neither team put another shot on frame, with the Purple Knights earning corner kicks in the 83rd and 84th minutes but not releasing any shots.
