THE ACTION

  • The Purple Knights put a pair of shots on net in the ninth minute, from juniors Zoe Rogers (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) and Paulina Valentine (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial), but Davis stopped each.
  • Escobedo came up with a big stop in the 39th minute, denying sophomore Dakota Cimetta's point-blank one-touch after getting in behind the defense.
  • With Davis out of her net to play the ball, sophomore Claire Williams (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) had a look at the cage with a few field players in her way and sent a shot just left of the frame in the 47th minute.
  • In the 82nd minute, sophomore Gabriela Garcia-Perez's through ball sent Fleming into the box, where she wove through defenders and ultimately slipped a shot into the lower left with 81:59.
  • That proved to be the game's final shot. The Purple Knights had a throw-in deep in the Charger zone with fewer than 30 seconds left, but a giveaway was cleared into the Saint Michael's end, capping the threat.
