THE ACTION
- Escobedo kept Saint Anselm off the board by intercepting senior Regan Pratt's dangerous cross under pressure in the 14th minute.
- The Purple Knights countered with a chance of their own in the 25th minute, as sophomore Claire Williams (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) sent a through ball into the box for junior Zoe Rogers (Shelton, Conn./Shelton), but Macaluso collected just before Rogers could get a touch.
- Escobedo was busy early in the second half, diving to her right to deny first-year Josie Pecor's shot from the middle of the box in the 48th minute before moving to deny sophomore Lily LaGrassa's one-touch bid from the 6 in the 50th.
- Early in the 61st minute, a hand ball was called on a Purple Knight, leading to the Hawks being awarded a penalty kick. White drilled her shot toward the lower left corner, but Escobedo dove to the spot and made a save, keeping the teams scoreless. However, just 4:36 after the initial penalty kick, another was awarded due to another hand ball. This time White scored into the lower left, potting the game's only goal at 64:43 beyond a diving Escobedo.
- With Saint Anselm possessing and moving toward its own goal in the 70th minute, senior Dora Barrett (Medford, Mass./Medford) applied pressure up top, leading to a loose ball, which Williams struck well from inside the 18 but pushed over the bar.
