COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's soccer senior Garrett Smith (Gorham, Maine/Bridgton Academy/Bryant) was named Northeast 10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 28.
 
Smith allowed only one goal last week while turning in a 0.50 goals-against average, .917 save percentage and 5.5 saves per game. Saint Michael's lost 1-0 to third-ranked Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday, when Smith made five saves and yielded only a 15th-minute marker. He had another six stops in a 2-0 win at regionally-ranked Adelphi University on Saturday.
 
After finishing top three in the NE10 in GAA, save percentage, saves per game and shutouts last season, Smith is tied for second this fall in shutouts (3) while placing third in GAA (0.76). In just a year and a half at Saint Michael's, he is already ninth in program history in both career wins (13) and shutouts (9).
 
At 5-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the NE10, the Purple Knights were ranked 10th in last week's United Soccer Coaches East Region poll. They play again on Saturday, hosting Saint Anselm College at 1 p.m.
