Brian was one of the top scorers during the early years of the modern era of men’s ice hockey at the College. After playing sparingly as a rookie in 1985-86, Brian was off to a promising start as a sophomore before missing most of the season as a medical redshirt when he had a tumor removed from his spine. He returned in the fall of 1987, ending the season as the team’s third-leading scorer, with 19 goals and 16 assists for 35 points in 21 games. Brian was the leading scorer each of his final two seasons, collecting 39 points on 17 goals and 22 assists as a junior before adding 21 more as a senior captain, with eight goals and 13 assists. In the process, he became only the third Purple Knight – at the time – to eclipse the 100-point barrier in a career, doing so in 79 games and reaching the milestone during his final season. He graduated first on the program’s all-time list with 22 power-play goals, second with 55 assists, third with 101 points and fourth with 46 goals. Over the final three seasons of his career, the Purple Knights were 39-25-2 overall and 38-18-2 in Eastern College Athletic Conference play, and made their first ECAC Championship semifinal appearance in 1988-89. In 1990, Brian earned the Victor V. LeMieux ’35 Award.
