Steve remains the only two-time Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference golfer in school annals and served as the program’s head coach for two seasons. Steve was the Purple Knights’ top finisher three times as a sophomore, including at the NE10 Championship, during the program’s first season as a conference member. He earned consecutive NE10 All-Conference finishes as an upperclassman during back-to-back fourth-place showings by the Purple Knights at NE10s. Steve took eighth as a junior before tying for second as a senior. After landing an NEIGA All-New England nod his junior year, when the Purple Knights took a school-record 11th place among 45 schools during the NEIGA Championship, he set a school record with 67 shots against American International College on Sept. 12, 1989, a mark that still stands. Steve and his foursome carded a composite 299 that day, a school record that would stand for 21 years. Steve later coached the golf squad during the 1999-2000 and 2000-01 seasons. In his inaugural campaign, Saint Michael’s was third at NE10s, with its second-round 316 the Purple Knights’ second-lowest round at the championship to that point. They followed that up by taking fifth in 2000-01, placing among the upper half of the field in consecutive seasons for the first time since his junior and senior campaigns.
