Mike has been a talented "player" in college athletics for more than 30 years. As an undergraduate, he was a key member of the golf team from 1962-65, went undefeated in 1964, and led his team to a second place finish in the New England Championships that year -- the best placement in the program's history. He was also the basketball team's manager during that span -- one of the greatest periods of the sport at SMC. He was sports editor of The Michaelman, was the sports publicity assistant under Hall of Famer John Donoghue '32, and won the prestigious Victor LeMieux Award in 1965. After graduation, he served as the Sports Information Director at both American International and Providence Colleges. When the BIG EAST Conference was formed in 1979, Mike was hired as Assistant Commissioner, a personnel decision that has paid huge dividends for the league ever since. At the time of his induction, he is in his seventh year as Commissioner of one of the nation's premier conferences, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative administrators in college athletics.
