Without question the greatest female athlete ever to compete at Saint Michael's. O'Neil holds the distinction of being the only athlete in the history of the College, male or female, to achieve 12 varsity letters. Although she starred in both field hockey and softball, and holds several individual records in each sport, it was in basketball that she truly excelled. She scored in double figures in 68 of 78 career games. Achieved a career point total of 1,361, averaging 17.4 points per game. Set 14 individual records, and was voted an Academic All-American in 1981. Having also played volleyball her freshman year, she was the last four-sport athlete at SMC. She is the only female Charter Member of the Saint Michael's College Hall of Fame. She was also the first female inducted into her high school Hall of Fame in Laconia, New Hampshire. Her jersey, #11, has been retired from active use.
