Saint Michael's College

Susan was a swimming & diving captain who went on to build a successful and inspiring career as a college athletics administrator. Susan capped her four-year Purple Knight swimming career by serving as team captain and aiding four victorious relays as a senior. Saint Michael’s won 21 dual meets during her career, tying a school record for wins in Susan’s sophomore and junior years. Following graduation, Susan began her journey in sports information, assisting first at Bucknell University and then the United States Naval Academy. In 1994, she began a decade at Widener University, where she held the roles of sports information director and coordinator of women’s athletics until being promoted in 2000 to assistant director of athletics for administration and communications. She has served Gettysburg College since 2004, first as assistant director of athletics before earning promotions to associate director (2010) and senior associate director (2018). Susan has been heavily involved in committee work beyond her own institutions. She earned CoSIDA’s 2018 Lester Jordan Award for exemplary service to the Academic All-America program, having been a long-time member of the Academic All-America committee. Resilience and perseverance personified, she was inducted into the South Central Chapter Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2021.
