Rev. Doherty - "Father Ray" as he is known by countless alumni and around the Winooski Park campus - was a member of the Saint Michael's baseball team as a student-athlete, and also a valuable sports publicity assistant for fellow Hall of Famer John Donoghue '32. Among his nearly endless resume, Doherty was a key member of the College's 1987 and 1996 Athletic Task Forces, the Athletics Policy and Planning Board, and served three terms on the Athletics Hall of Fame Committee, including as the group's first Chairman from 1987-91. A highly athletic person to this day, Doherty has been recognized with many accolades, including the Distinguished Service to Students Award, the National Alumni Presidents Award, and the NEACAC Vermont College Counselor of the Year Award.
