Drew was the leader of the immortal "Iron Knights" of 1958, serving as the team's captain and point guard. He had tremendous leadership ability, and with him in the lineup, the Knights were an incredible 54-18 during his tenure. A three-time All-State player, he led the Knights to three straight Green Mountain Conference titles, and two substantial appearances in the NCAA Tournament. In his junior year, the team won the New England College Championship, and made it all the way to the Eastern Regional Final. In his senior season, the Knights marched to the National Tournament, capturing the New England and East Region Championships. With their roster whittled to five because of injury and illness, Drew led his team to a quarterfinal win over Grambling, and a semifinal win over Evansville -- before falling to South Dakota in the finals. The national media tabbed the team the "Iron Knights" because of their ability to move through the tournament with no substitutions! Steady and durable, Drew started all 72 games the Knights played during his career.
